As some of you know, following on from our community engagement relating to the Stormont Papers website, it became apparent that generic issues had an impact on the use, embedding, and promotion of e-content relating to Northern Ireland, and to Ireland more generally. Our final SPHERE project workshop developed into a wider meeting of stakeholders with interests in Irish Studies e-Resources.
This meeting was very successful. Thanks are especially due to the Public Record Office Northern Ireland who provided an excellent meeting venue in their new building in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, together with three of the 17 speakers. I am attaching the findings of this meeting as a Word file. All comments welcome.
Irish Studies Workshop Report 1.1
The JISC funded SPHERE project is collecting information on the use of the Stormont Parliamentary Papers digital resource – an archive of the House of Commons debates from the Stormont Government, 1921-72. A short web survey on use of the resource is available at the following web link
Stormont Papers web survey
The information collected by the project will be used to understand the needs of the research and teaching community and establish priorities for the digitisation of new content and redevelopment of the user interface. Your contribution to the survey will establish current use of the Stormont Parlimentary Papers resource and help to shape its future development.
Please visit the Stormont Papers web site for further information on the project.
The SPHERE project is funded by JISC, based at King’s College, London and Queen’s University, Belfast, working in Partnership with the Northern Ireland Assembly Library, and the NIA Official Report. It started on Nov 1st, 2010, and concludes in April 2011.
